Terms of Service

1. The Service

TutorLuke provides one-to-one online English lessons delivered via Google Meet and booked through our online platform. Each lesson is 50 minutes unless stated otherwise.

2. Your Account

When you create an account:

• You sign in with your email address using a one-time code — there is no password. Keep access to your email secure; you are responsible for activity under your account.
• You agree to provide accurate information and keep it up to date.
• Accounts are personal and non-transferable, with one account per person.

3. Lesson Points & Payment

Lessons are paid for using lesson points:

• Points are purchased in advance in Japanese yen (JPY) through Stripe. Prices are shown on our pricing page and include tax.
• Payment is charged at the time of purchase, and points are credited to your account once payment succeeds.
• Each booked lesson deducts the applicable points from your balance.

4. Point Validity

Points are valid for a limited period from the date of purchase — Starter Plan: 2 months, Standard Plan: 4 months, Premium Plan: 10 months (or as shown for each plan). Points not used within the validity period expire and are not refunded.

5. Booking, Cancellation & No-Shows

The following rules apply to scheduled lessons:

• You may book lessons through the calendar, subject to availability.
• You may cancel or reschedule a lesson up to 24 hours before its scheduled start time, and the point will be returned to your balance.
• Cancellations within 24 hours of the start time, and missed lessons (no-shows), are charged in full and the point will not be returned.
• If the instructor must cancel a lesson, the point will be returned to your balance and we will offer to reschedule.

6. Refunds

Purchased point packages are non-refundable, and expired points are not refunded, except where required by law or at our sole discretion. Please also see our Specified Commercial Transactions Act disclosure.

7. Conduct & Acceptable Use

When using the service, you agree that:

• You will treat your instructor with respect; lessons are a professional environment.
• You will not record, photograph or redistribute lessons or lesson materials without prior written consent.
• You will not use the service for any unlawful purpose or in a way that disrupts the platform.
• We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these Terms.

8. Lesson Materials & Intellectual Property

Lesson content, feedback, notes and materials provided through the service are owned by TutorLuke English Services and are licensed to you for your personal, non-commercial learning use only.

9. Availability & Changes

We aim to provide a reliable service but do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. We may modify, suspend or discontinue features and may update pricing and plans. Changes to plans do not affect the stated validity of points you have already purchased.

10. Disclaimer & Limitation of Liability

The service is provided “as is”. To the extent permitted by law, TutorLuke is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for disruptions caused by third-party tools (such as Google Meet) or by your internet connection or equipment. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the affected lesson(s).

11. Termination

You may stop using the service at any time. We may suspend or close accounts that violate these Terms. On termination, any unused points are handled under the refund and validity terms above.

12. Governing Law & Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of Japan. Any dispute arising in connection with the service will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Tokyo District Court as the court of first instance.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The current version is always available on this page with a revised “last updated” date. Continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
